Civic Club Fundraising Ideas
Rotary, Kiwanis, Lions, and clubs like them raise money for real projects in their own towns. Here’s what actually works when your members are also your volunteers.

What’s different about fundraising for this group
Your members are already paying dues and giving up meeting time to be part of this club, so whatever you run has to respect that. Most civic clubs also tie their fundraising to a specific project, a scholarship, a park bench, a holiday food basket, so people want to see the ask connected to something real, not just “help the club.”
Your club’s name is attached to whatever you run too. A fundraiser that falls flat reflects on Rotary, Kiwanis, or Lions as a whole in your town, not just your chapter, so it’s worth picking something your members can stand behind without hesitation.
Ideas worth your time
Raffles
Sell tickets at your regular meetings and around town for a few weeks, then draw at your next dinner or community event. Ties in naturally with whatever project you’re funding.
Pancake breakfasts and community dinners
A classic for a reason. Low cost to run, easy for members to work a shift, and it gets you face time with the town you’re raising money for.
Business sponsorships
Local businesses that already know your club can underwrite a project outright in exchange for recognition at the event or in the newsletter.
Not every fundraiser needs your whole membership to pull it off, and that’s the point. Pick the one that fits the project you’re funding and let a smaller group run it well, instead of asking everyone to sell something at every meeting for months.
If your club only runs one fundraiser this year, run a raffle
Of everything on this page, a raffle asks the least of your volunteers and usually raises the most. See why a raffle is usually the best idea on this list, or jump straight in.
